Job Duties:
The Carpenter III (Senior) will:
Lead and perform building maintenance, renovations, and repair on commercial and municipal city buildings.
Perform work in compliance with local, state, and federal building codes.
Inspect and repair different types of roofing, siding, and cornice.
Build and repair cabinets as well aslaminate and solid surface counter tops.
Be experienced in installing and repairing commercial locks and hardware.
Be experienced in installing and repairing doors and windows.
Fill out daily work orders of work performed, write reports and cost estimates for time and materials.
Shall direct the work activities of subordinate carpenters to ensure proper and timely completion.

Minimum Requirements:
MINIMUMS: High School or GED plus six (6) years experience in carpentry work in the capacity of general carpenter, floor covering installer, roofer, framer, or form carpenter; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must have, or obtain, a current and valid Virginia or North Carolina drivers license in accordance with Virginia or North Carolina DMV drivers license eligibility requirements. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Successful completion of a pre-employment physical.
